Postponed: The Evolution of Sanskrit, Language of Yoga
New date TBA
From the opening invocation all the way to savasana and namaste, our Yoga practice is peppered with the Sanskrit language. Although Sanskrit may sound foreign and archaic, it is actually closely related to Modern English. Did you know that the Sanskrit name for down dog, “svanasana” is actually related to the English word “canine?” In this seminar, yogi and classical language teacher Trevor Layman will teach you linguistic tricks that illuminate the links between English and Sanskrit, and add a new dimension to your enjoyment of Yoga. Participants can expect to leave with an expanded confidence in their ability to recognize the Sanskrit used in class, and a new perspective on the English language.
